Come and participate in the 2013 Jefferson County Farm Tour! Each year the Farm Tour draws thousands of visitors eager to experience a working farm and connect with local farmers. With 24 Jefferson County farms participating in the tour you’ll meet many of the people that are part of our county’s thriving food system.

The farms on this free, self-guided tour span many production systems, including dairy, meat, fiber, fruit, vegetable and shellfish. Jefferson County Farms are located in and around Port Townsend, Marrowstone Island, Discovery Bay, Chimacum, Port Ludlow, and Quilcene.

• Saturday, September 14, only the fiber farms will be open to host spinning, weaving, roving and plant dye demonstrations. In addition, local fiber artists will have many goods for sale! After the fiber tour, drop by the Chimacum Corner Farmstand for the Pig Roast from 4-9pm, with local dishes prepared by Chef Dan Ratigan, live music, and a beer/wine/cider tent. Tickets for the Roast are $15 per plate.
• Sunday, September 15, all 24 commercial farms will open their gates and offer tours. You’ll see livestock; cheese making and other demonstrations; take part in apple tastings; learn about shellfish farming; listen to live music, entertainment and so much more. Many farms will host food vendors serving locally inspired dishes, and there will be lots of farm activities for the whole family!
• The Port Townsend Food Coop, Chimacum Corner Farmstand, and the Quilcene Village Store will serve as information hubs for the Farm Tour. Be sure to drop by any of the three hubs to pick up the Farm Tour Guide, maps of participating farms, and find carpool companions.

The Wooden Boat Festival is a magical event, and nothing lets you feel the magic more than getting out on a boat! The festival provides several ways for you to get out rowing or sailing at no charge, but tips go to support youth sailing programs.

Sign ups start at 9:00 am for morning sails and noon for afternoon sails. Sign up EARLY; slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Row and Sail a Longboat

• Friday 11am to 4pm
• Saturday 9:15am to 4:30pm
• Sunday 10am– 4:30pm

Sail a Thunderbird

• Friday 9:30am – 5pm
• Saturday 9:30am – 5pm
• Sunday 9:30am– 2pm

Get Out and Paddle

• Visit Pygmy Kayaks at their showroom inside the festival grounds or Chesapeake Light Craft at their display on the Point.

Schooner Sailings

• Adventuress – Daily sails from the NWMC dock at 11am and 3pm. Sign up at the Sound Experience booth or the NWMC dock.
• Odyssey – Daily sails from City Dock, at Pope Marine Park right outside festival gates. See crew for times and to sign up.

Regattas and Races
Anyone interesting in racing aboard someone else’s boat should attend the skippers’ meeting(s)— boats are often looking for crew. Times for awards ceremonies will be announced at skippers’ meeting(s).

• 26’ and Under Race: Friday at 2:30pm, Skippers’ meeting at 1pm at NWMC beach.
• Rowing Regatta: Saturday 10am. Skippers’ meeting at 9am Compass Rose.
• NW Schooner Cup: Saturday 3pm: Skippers’ meeting 9am NWMC Beach.
• T-37 Model Boat Races: Sunday 10:30am Inner Harbor – Check in at Tippecanoe booth for more information.

Local/Regional Music and Emerging Bands Featured on Thursdays – July 11-August 29, 2013.

Downtown Port Townsend continues to rock with all-ages free concerts on Thursdays through August 29th at the Pope Marine Park/City Dock Civic Plaza.

The concert series is produced by the Port Townsend Main Street Program. “We look forward to bringing these free outdoor music concerts to the Civic District Plaza on Thursdays from July 11th to August 29. We’re starting the shows a bit earlier this year. The seating opens at 4:30pm, with music beginning at 5 pm and ending at 7:30 pm. The concerts are made possible by our generous sponsors and we thank them for supporting summer fun in Port Townsend,” according to Mari Mullen, executive director of the Port Townsend Main Street Program.
