What if you had experienced the defining moment of your life – but couldn’t remember it? After 20 years apart, Emma tracks cowboy-poet Ulysses, to his grungy trailer park, where he’s working on his magnum opus, hooked to an oxygen tank, and cooking in the buff. Their reunion, charged by rage and compassion, brings back the worst and best of their former bond in this comic and gripping duet.
Annapurna premiered at the Magic Theatre, San Francisco, California, in November 2011. The play opened Off-Broadway at the Acorn Theatre, in a production by The New Group on April 13, 2014 (previews) through June 1, 2014. Charles Isherwood of the New York Times praised the script for its “crisp, sometimes darkly funny, naturalistic dialogue.”
Annapurna stars Denise Winter, KCPT’s Executive Artistic Director, as Emma, and David Natale, last seen as the titular king in last year’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Henry IV Part 1, as Ulysses. Allen Fitzpatrick directs the show.
Annapurna runs October 4th through October 20th, Thursday through Sunday. Tickets cost $24 for Thursday/Sunday, and $29 for Friday/Saturday. Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 pm, and evening shows at 7:30 pm. Pay-What-You-Wish performances are October 7thth and 11th.
