The Trojan Women: August 1-10, 2014
Shakespeare in the Park features tragedy and comedy Port Townsend’s waterfront Chetzemoka Park.
Shakespeare in the Park is a summertime family tradition, so bring your blanket, a picnic, and prepare to laugh, or cry—or both!
Euripides’ “The Trojan Women” is presented August 1-10, 2014. This classic Greek tragedy is directed by Amanda Steurer, who artfully directed last summer’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”
An ensemble of stunning actresses faces the consequences after the fall of Troy. Are they doomed to slavery, or will they become the wives of their conquerors?
Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating on the grass and to dress warmly for when the sun goes down. Picnic fare is welcome, and a concession stand serves hot dogs, beverages and light refreshments.
The outdoor performances at Port Townsend’s waterfront Chetzemoka Park run Fridays through Sundays at 6 p.m. (Open seating begins at 5:30 p.m.). The show runs about 70 minutes, with no intermission. A modern Shakespeare spoof, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” follows the next two weekends, August 15-24.
Admission is by suggested donation. More info: call 360-385-KCPT (5278) or visit http://www.keycitypublictheatre.org/.
