This sexy, explosive new rock opera explores the complications of love, the compromises we make, and the betrayals that can ultimately undo us.With a title like Murder Ballad, it’s no surprise that this is a treacherous love triangle destined for tragedy. A torrid affair with vibrant music, see this hit show at KCPT in one of its first west coast productions.

Murder Ballad premiered Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club in November of 2012, where it was a New York Times Critic’s Pick. Ben Brantley said the play was “a small but saavy musical that panders in style to those of us who lap up febrile accounts of fatale attractions.”

KCPT’s own Christa Holbrook is the Narrator, Dillon Porter is Tom, Aba Kiser is Sara, and Greg Stone is Michael. Denise Winter will be directing, and Linda Dowdell will be providing musical direction.

Murder Ballad will run Thursdays through Sundays for four weekends, June 8th through July 2nd at KCPT’s Playhouse on 419 Washington St. Thursday – Sunday evening performances begin at 7:30 PM,  there are 2:30pm matinees on June 24 & July 1. Ticket prices are $20 for Thursdays and Sundays, and $24 for Fridays and Saturdays.
